CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE WINES
A Portfolio of Napa Valley Terroir
What began with Jack and Dolores Cakebread’s original purchase of 22 acres in Rutherford, is now 1,600 family-owned acres across Napa Valley and Anderson Valley with 600 acres planted to vine. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is represented by an array of cooler and warmer sites along both the valley floor and steep hillsides. Each site lends a distinct personality, offering tremendous diversity, complexity and unparalleled quality.
Four unique vineyard sites are the sources for Cakebread’s Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve wines which provide a taste of the breadth of Napa Valley. From the benchlands of the Mayacamas Mountains to the steep slopes of Howell Mountain, these wines embody the terroir of the Napa Valley. Our estate vineyards comprise of different elevations, soil types, micro climates, among other features, that make each wine unique. Winemaking is both an art and a science, and Stephanie, our director of winemaking, speaks through these wines. She crafts the different cabernets with the ideal expression of each vineyard, bringing into harmony the fruit, acid and tannins. From the forest floor notes in our Dancing Bear Ranch to the hint of floral in Suscol Springs, each are nuanced, layered and complex. All have a common thread, balance.
